On November 25, 1999, a group of Macedonian citizens and one Macedonian women, American citizen, laid the foundations of one of the most well-known civil society organizations in the Republic of North Macedonia, CIVIL – Center for Freedom.
The founding group was composed of intellectuals, artists, journalists, a businessman and a worker. In twenty-two years, the organization has implemented over 100 projects in several critical areas of the social – political processes in the country. It was the pioneer of the peace and reconciliation process in 2001, one of the most prominent organizations in the fight against illegal weapons, it carried out major national campaigns dedicated to multiculturalism, human rights, freedoms and democracy.
CIVIL’s popularity by far exceeds the borders of our country and currently is one of the most respectable civil society organizations in the Balkans. The President and one of the founders of CIVIL, Xhabir Deralla, congratulates the anniversary of the founding of the organization to the founders, members of the Assembly of CIVIL and all bodies and organizational units, to all members and supporters.
