Civil: activities brief

Civil – Center for Freedom is one of the few human rights organizations in the country that still dares to speak out about the worsening situation. This is a short selection of recent and ongoing activities of the organization.

Recently, we have issued a preliminary human rights report outlining the most frequent forms of human rights violations and discrimination. The report has been developed within the Opt for Democracy project, and is an ongoing activity of Human Rights Working Groups established by Civil.

Following the development of the case of imprisonment of the journalist Tomislav Kezarovski, Civil, together with the Reporters without Borders (German Section), n-ost, Scoop and BIRN have launched the Click for Freedom online campaign.

Children and youth have created artworks, poems, essays and documentaries on human rights and tolerance within the project All the Colors of My Country. The closing ceremony of the project took place on December 7. Artworks are being posted on Internet channels of Civil.

Speak Up! is a project of artists in defense of human rights and freedoms and strengthening of solidarity. Artists have organized a series of multimedia events across the country, including exhibitions, video-art screening, poetry readings and panel discussions on the role of the artists in defense of human rights and freedoms.

On the Human Rights Day, Civil organizes a poetry reading within the Freedom Lyrics, a component of the Speak Up! project.
