CIVIL welcomes the quick reaction of MOI Internal Affairs, and recalls important aspects of the incident

CIVIL – Center for Freedom welcomes the quick clearing of the case in which four police officers overstepped their authority on July 26, 2017. On that day, a group of activists of the Levica party and CIVIL’s journalist were unlawfully handcuffed, while on some even force was used, as it can be seen from the video of CIVIL’s journalist.

At the same time, CIVIL is reminding the public that its activist and journalist Vulnet Mahmuti was handcuffed even longer than the others, even though he was not part of the group that was protesting, but was just performing his journalistic duties.

Before he was handcuffed and offensively pushed through the narrow stairs in the City Shopping Center, he managed to record a short video, which CIVIL published and which served as evidence for the swift procedure that the MOI carried out in the past 48 hours.

On the occasion of this incident, yesterday representatives of CIVIL visited the department of internal control within the MOI, which was followed by an announcement and a video address  for the pubic.
