On the occasion of International Day of Peace, CIVIL – Center for Freedom is joining all peace loving people around the world, in search of one day, entirely filled with peace, freedom and democracy, with the message that we all equally deserve to live in peace, freedom and dignity!
With the Resolution of the UN General Assembly from 2001, September 21 has been declared International Day of Peace. This year once again, on September 21, International Day of Peace, peace is achievable only if we jointly fight and overcome all mutual misunderstandings, if we respect human rights and freedoms and believe that we equally deserve to live in peace, freedom and dignity.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom is inviting all citizens in Macedonia, its members and supporters, activists, volunteers, civic associations, but also political entities, on this day, to sincerely wish and take action to spread peace, not forgetting those in need of assistance and understanding in their fight for a dignified life. Every individual should contribute towards overcoming hatred, prejudice, nationalism, violence and the cult of weapons, and all of us together, can send a powerful message of peace. Government officials need to express public support for peace and manifest it through concrete steps and measures and strive for world peace.
CIVIL expresses hope that the disinterest for peace will soon become a thing of the past and that Macedonia will again become a country in which peace is fostered and promoted, both by the institutions and by the citizens, who will jointly find ways to fight against interethnic conflicts, poverty, hunger, social inequality, environmental degradation, corruption…
On September 19, 2013, CIVIL submitted an initiative to the Assembly of Macedonia for September 21 – International Day of Peace and December 10 – International Human Rights Day to be declared national holidays.
