NONVIOLENCE – THE ONLY WAY OF CONFLICT RESOLUTION

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. (Gandhi)
Mahatma Gandhi is the pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. His birthday, 2 October, is celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence

According to the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/61/271 of 15 June 2007, this day is an occasion to "disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness". The resolution reaffirms "the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence" and the desire "to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence".

Since its foundation in 1999, in all organizational and strategic documents and in actions, Civil is committed to nonviolence as one of the basic achievements of human civilization and promote nonviolence as the only way to bridgedifferences and resolve conflicts between people and nations.

Civil marks this day since 2007 through events involving volunteers and activists of civilians in Skopje and across the country.
