ACTIVIST TIME TRAVEL “IN SEARCH FOR CITIZENS”

On the occasion of its twentieth anniversary, the Association “GONG” from Croatia is organizing a regional activist and artistic time travel titled “In search for citizens”, in Zagreb, on April 13, 2017, as well as an all-night cultural and art program in cooperation with the Associations Kurziv and Domino from Zagreb, the Center for Cultural Decontamination from Belgrade, the Helsinki Parliament from Banja Luka, CIVIL – Center for Freedom from Skopje, Anima from Kotor, the Solidarna Foundation and Culture of Change within the Student Centre of Zagreb, with the financial support of the Europe for Citizens program.

The purpose of this regional conference is to affirm, but also to explore the tradition of progressive activism and artistic creativity in turbulent times of transformation of the dominant political, cultural and social matrixes in the post-Yugoslav space, marked by war conflicts, poverty, destruction of public goods and of the environment, distrust and deep divisions among the people.

The participants and the speakers are a mix of different generations, with different thematic interests and from different locations of the former Yugoslav states.

The Conference will open with the interactive performance “Never Again. Never. Again?” of the Bosnian artist Elma Selman. The exhibition “Resistance, movement, change: fragments of activist and artistic practices from the late 80’s”, moderated by Kurziv, will open in the evening hours, with the monodrama “For postgraduate education” from Vili Matula and Sinisa Laborovik with music by Igor Pavlovik, along with the music activist auditorium of Ilko Chulik, which certainly promises good entertainment.

To participate in the Conference you can register through the оnline form no later than April 7, and for additional information you may contact Marina Shkrabalo from GONG at [email protected].
