The Roma people in Macedonia, unfortunately, have very few reasons to celebrate today’s International Roma Day – April 8, because they are still discriminated in every aspect in the Macedonian society, despite all verbal statements and written declarations, they still do not enjoy the human rights and freedoms provided by the law.
CIVIL – Center for Freedom is calling for the competent institutions to take decisive steps to improve the lives of the Roma community in Macedonia. CIVIL demands a stop to the discrimination, prejudice and the segregation that is being carried out against the Roma people, and for the institutions - to provide employment for the Roma, and an appropriate place to stay for the Roma citizens who do not have their own home.
CIVIL urges the competent institutions to provide an appropriate education for the Roma children living on the street.
