Maricic in Tirana Connectivity Forum: Despite blockade in negotiations with EU, we continue with reforms

North Macedonia has implemented all reforms necessary to start negotiations with the European Union, but still, there is no decision for their start, said Minister of Justice Bojan Maricic in his address at the “Tirana Connectivity Forum 2021”.

According to the Minister of Justice, all laws that should have been, and which concern the judiciary, have been adopted.

–Even in conditions of a blockade, North Macedonia continues with reforms in all spheres. In order to keep the focus on the European agenda, the Government has prepared a plan called “Europe Home” and refers to implementing reforms in several areas. The focus is on the judiciary, where currently, many reforms are being implemented. The fears are that in absence of a clear European perspective in the Western Balkans, there is room for other forces to try to exert a stronger influence in the region, stressed Maricic.

According to the Minister of Justice, it is necessary for the EU to give a clear signal that the focus further remains on the countries of the Western Balkans and for the negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania to start this year.
